Privacy policy

The short version

There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to build. Your saved names never leave your browser. The site can use Google AdSense to fund its editorial work, but Google-served advertising is enabled only when the deployment is configured to serve it.

Google-served advertising is currently disabled on this deployment. The AdSense serving tag and advertising consent platform are not loaded. An ownership verification marker and ads.txt remain published so Google can verify the site without serving ads during review.

What is stored on your device

Two things, both in your browser’s local storage and neither transmitted by the site application:

• Saved names. Names you mark as favourites, so they persist between visits.
• Theme preference. Whether you chose light or dark mode.

Clearing your browser data removes both. Because they are stored per device, favourites saved on a phone will not appear on a laptop — the share and export options exist to work around that.

Advertising

No Google ad request is made in the current review build. If advertising is enabled later, the policy above will apply automatically with the same deployment switch that loads the AdSense serving tag and certified consent platform. Google-served inventory is restricted to selected editorial articles; generated name profiles, search and comparison tools, navigation, legal pages and error pages remain ad-free by design.

Hosting and security logs

The site does not run a separate analytics product or build advertising audiences of its own. Like ordinary web hosting, the hosting and security infrastructure may process standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamps to deliver and protect the service. The application does not turn that infrastructure data into user profiles.

Data about children

The name data is public aggregate statistics published by the Social Security Administration. It contains counts of names by year and recorded sex — it does not contain, and cannot be used here to identify, any individual child or adult.

This site is intended for adults researching names. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and requests

There is no account or profile database on this site. You can clear saved names and theme preferences through your browser storage controls. When advertising is enabled, the footer also provides the advertising consent control required for the regions where it applies. Questions or privacy requests about the site can be sent through the contact page. Google provides its own privacy and advertising controls for information it processes as an independent service provider.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the date at the top. The policy is kept in step with the site’s actual advertising configuration rather than describing ads or consent controls that are not loaded.
