Privacy policy

The short version

There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to build. Your saved names never leave your browser. The site does show advertising, and that advertising involves a third party — Google — which does collect data, subject to the choices you make in the consent dialog.

What is stored on your device

Two things, both in your browser’s local storage and neither transmitted anywhere:

• Saved names. Names you mark as favourites, so they persist between visits.
• Theme preference. Whether you chose light or dark mode.

Clearing your browser data removes both. Because they are stored per device, favourites saved on a phone will not appear on a laptop — the share and export options exist to work around that.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and, where you have consented, to personalise them.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent dialog appears before any advertising cookie is set, provided by a Google-certified consent management platform integrating the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. Your choices there are respected: declining personalisation means you see non-personalised advertising, not that advertising disappears.

You can change your choices at any time: Privacy and cookie settings, in the footer of every page, reopens the consent dialog with your current answers in it. You can review Google’s own description of how it uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some pages carry no advertising at all: your saved names page has none by design, and neither does an error page or a search that returned nothing.

Analytics

No separate analytics product is used. Aggregate request statistics from the hosting provider are available to the site operator, and contain no data capable of identifying you.

Data about children

The name data is public aggregate statistics published by the Social Security Administration. It contains counts of names by year and sex — it does not contain, and cannot be used to identify, any individual person.

This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected or stored by this site, there is nothing held here to access, correct or delete. For data collected by Google in connection with advertising, use the consent controls described above or Google’s own privacy tools.
