The figures here are derived from public Social Security Administration data by an automated process described on the methodology page. That process has known limitations, listed on the same page. The data is provided as-is: it is intended to inform a personal decision, not to serve as an authoritative record, and it should not be relied on for legal, official or research purposes without checking against the source.

The underlying data

Social Security Administration baby name data is a public work of the US federal government and is not subject to copyright. The analysis, groupings, written articles and presentation on this site are its own work.

You are welcome to cite figures from this site with attribution. Bulk copying of the derived dataset to reproduce the site elsewhere is not.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

• Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people.
• Attempt to interfere with its operation or security.

If you want the underlying data, take it from the SSA directly — it is public, complete, and a better source than scraping this site.
